Teaching Philosophy

Responsibilities

As an instructor, my responsibilities are to..

• be prepared, which includes:

• being on time

• being consistent

• knowing my materials

• knowing my students

• knowing my school's resources

• explain the material to the best of my ability, which includes

  • providing a variety of examples and materials

  • offering honest, practical information

  • including all of possible learning styles

  • incorporating traditional classroom techniques with current technology

   

• assign tasks to help students master the skills, which include

  • in-class and take-home writing

  • graded and upgraded assignments

  • general and focused grammar instruction

  • thought provoking, challenging materials

   

•  treat all students equally, which includes

  • clearly stating and consistently enforcing class expectations and policies

  • maintaining a fair, equitable standard of behavior towards all students

  • understanding and  facilitating diversity in the classroom

Students responsibilities are...

• consistently attend class
• be prepared for instruction by reading and studying before class
• be an active participant in class
• complete assignments to the best of possessed ability
• incorporate all provided materials into learning process
• take an active part in own learning
• accept responsibility for own performance
