Catherine Coleman

With a M.A. in Linguistics -- emphasis in Technology in Teaching, certificate in TESL and BA in English, I currently teach ESL and English at various Southern California Community Colleges.

I believe all students have something worthwhile to bring to the writing community; thus, enabling them to present their ideas, experiences, and opinions in clearly written, academically correct English will benefit both the students themselves and the readers who are enriched by the information.

It is my goal to enable English students to improve their writing abilities so that they can be successful and competitive in academia and the world.

To this end, I provide strategies and techniques to empower students to not only master the fundamentals of academic writing, but to also incorporate advanced writing features which create a sophisticated, powerful English writing voice.

In addition to classroom teaching, I provide one-to-one "English for Specific Purpose" lessons, such as Test Taking and Resume Writing, and I also provide some basic editing for non-graded or non-academic projects, such as Resumes, Scholarship Essays, and College Entrance Essays. Inquires about these services should be emailed to me with specific information about the purpose and content of the project and its time deadlines; my availability and price list will then be sent out.
