Welcome to Coleman's English Corner
My contribution to the world of English
language teaching and learning.
It is by teaching that we teach
ourselves, by relating that we observe, by affirming that we examine, by showing
that we look, by writing that we think, by pumping that we draw water into the
well. Henri-Frederic
Amiel (1821-1881)
Coleman's Corner is a work in progress. As a community college student
exploring the intricacies English writing, I first posted the site in 1999. In
2007, I have finished (at least temporarily) my own student journey and have
become the instructor teaching English in the community college.
Here you will find a conglomeration of English resources to assist with
writing
essays, timed essay exams, language acquisition, grammar practice, web links,
student essays, and more.
While many of the handouts and tips are primarily
directed toward college
students developing writing skills, all students are welcomed and encouraged to
use the material on these pages to improve their English usage.
I am constantly striving to improve my own grasp and command of
language. While I would hope this site is error free, I do not guarantee it! If
you find an error on these pages, please let me know and I will correct it.
We have the privilege of living in a global community; from this community, I
welcome questions or comments about the site, English writing, teaching, or
learning, or English in general. I will respond to such as quickly as I am able.
